Increased Occurrences or Heightened Awareness?

Another young wife and mom told me Sunday about her breast cancer. It seems that the people people I know have been through significantly more difficult life-circumstances than I can remember. Cancer and death in immediate family are the primary challenges. And many of the victims are young.

Are any of you noticing something similar. Or is this unique to my circle of friends and family?

Our "modern society" is killing us. Our enemies don't have to, if they can just wait it out!

I've observed this throughout my life, but I think it's partly because my parents aren't yet old enough to lose their friends to natural causes, so most of the deaths I've been aware of have happened tragically young. Three in the past year, sadly.

I've had a rash of cancer hitting people I know recently. Part of it is that my circle has been broadened by church and the internet. But that isn't a big part of it. Because those 2 things have both been there for a while. But in the past few weeks, it seems my prayer requests at church are focused around someone I know who just found out that they or a loved one have cancer or a tumor of some sort.
